Putting Pen To Paper

A Guide To My Hometown!
It all began with a Moleskine.  I’ve always loved to write because there is something about a crisp piece of paper & sharpened pencils that sparks my creativity.  When I bought my Moleskine, it came with a brief history.  The original creators were a family from Tours, France (figures the French would be behind yet more elegance) who shut down their operation in 1986.  British author Bruce Chatwin, who used them exclusively when writing, bought as many as possible and mourned the loss of the company.

Well lo and behold!  In 1998, The Italians showed up in the form of a Milanese publisher, who resurrected the notebooks under the name Moleskine .  The rest as they say is history.  I process a tremendous amount of information and I’ve found that these notebooks help keep my mind organized.  I jot down random notes, as well as thoughts and impressions that I can use as subjects for my writing.

I love technology and the many benefits it brings (I’m composing this post on my laptop using Windows Live Writer).  However, there is nothing like doodling and scribbling streams of consciousness in a notebook.  There is something very organic about the process that doesn’t work with a computer.  I work my thoughts out on paper and then transfer them to Live Writer.

…and I’m out
